chiropractic treatment for back pain maple grove

This is our bread and butter.

Most new patients arrive at our office due to an incident. They are in pain shortly after a car accident, work-related accident, or a slip-and-fall. Sometimes, there is no apparent cause. Others have been dealing with pain or discomfort for weeks if not years, and they are tired of living with it and tired of taking pain medications. Does this sound like you or someone you know?

Most chiropractors treat lower back pain. But we treat so much more, including:

  • Sprain/strain (shoulder, knee, elbow, ankle)

  • Headaches & Migraines

  • Sciatica

  • Rotator Cuff (the main shoulder muscles)

  • Tennis Elbow

  • Frozen Shoulder

  • TMJ (jaw pain)

  • Muscle Tension

  • Whiplash

  • Joint Pain

  • Pregnancy-related pain

The most common technique, Diversified or Manual, involves using the hands to adjust the treated joint. Some patients don’t like the “cracking” sound associated with this technique. Not to worry, we also have alternative methods, such as

Activator - uses a spring-loaded, hand-held mechanical instrument.

Thompson Drop - uses a particular precision adjusting table that helps keep the patient comfortable during the adjustment.

These popular techniques are also used on geriatric or pediatric patients due to their gentle nature.

FAQ

What is chiropractic care?

    • Chiropractic care is a form of alternative medicine that focuses on diagnosing and treating mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine. Chiropractors use manual manipulation and adjustments to address misalignments, pain, and overall well-being.

    • How does chiropractic adjustment work?

    • Chiropractic adjustments involve applying controlled force to specific joints, typically the spine. The goal is to correct misalignments, improve mobility, and alleviate pain. This manual manipulation may produce a cracking sound, which is often the release of gas bubbles in the joint.

    • What conditions can chiropractic care help with?

    • Chiropractic care is commonly used to address conditions such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint pain. Some people also seek chiropractic care for issues like sciatica, sports injuries, work-related injuries, and general wellness.

  • Is chiropractic treatment safe?

    • Chiropractic treatment is generally considered safe when performed by a qualified and licensed chiropractor. However, it may not suit everyone, and certain medical conditions may contraindicate chiropractic care. It's crucial to communicate openly with your healthcare provider and chiropractor.

  • How many sessions are typically needed for results?

    • The number of sessions required varies based on the individual, the specific condition being treated, and the severity of the issue. Some people experience relief after just a few sessions, while others may need ongoing maintenance care. Talk to your chiropractor about your condition and treatment plan.

  • Do chiropractors only treat the spine?

    • While the spine is a primary focus, chiropractors may also address issues in other joints, muscles, and the nervous system. They take a holistic health approach and may advise on lifestyle, exercise, and nutrition.

  • Do chiropractors prescribe medication?

    • Chiropractors do not prescribe medication. Their approach is drug-free and typically involves manual adjustments, exercises, and lifestyle recommendations.

  • Does insurance cover chiropractic care?

    • Coverage varies depending on the insurance provider and the specific plan. Some insurance plans may cover chiropractic care, while others may not. It's essential to check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage.

  • Can chiropractic care be used as a preventive measure?

    • Many people use chiropractic care as a preventive measure to maintain overall health and well-being. Regular adjustments help improve spinal alignment, reduce tension, and enhance the body's ability to function optimally.

  • Can anyone see a chiropractor, or are there certain restrictions?

    • While many people can benefit from chiropractic care, it may only suit some. Pregnant women, individuals with certain medical conditions, or those with a history of certain surgeries should consult with their healthcare provider before seeking chiropractic treatment. Chiropractors are trained to assess whether a person is a suitable candidate for their care.

    • How soon can I go to the chiropractor after giving birth?

    • If you had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery, you may be able to see a chiropractor once you can leave the house. If you had an uncomplicated C-Section, typically, you will have to wait 4-6 weeks to start receiving chiropractic care.

    • I am a student. Do you offer any Student Discounts?

    • Yes. We offer affordable student pricing in cases where the insurance benefits under the parents’ insurance are not ideal.

    • Do I need a referral from an M.D.?

    • Because there are so many coverage options these days, it’s best to check with your employer’s HR department, call your insurance, or call our office so we can find out any referral requirements (this is the easiest, hint hint).
